Toronto, January 21, 2009 On January 18, 2009, the Moroccan Association of Toronto (AMDT) held its Annual General Meeting at "Metro Hall" Toronto during which a new Executive Committee was elected. The new Board members for the year 2009 are:
Mohamed Smyej: President Malika Mounir: Vice President Ahmed Hanane: General Secretary Hassan Douelrachad: Treasurer Ahmed Mouram: General Director Abdelhadi Tahir: Director Aziz Douai: Director Mr. Mohamed Smyej, the re-elected president, took the opportunity to address the members of the community attending the AGM and presented AMDT accomplishments during the last year. He also presented AMDT objectives for the coming mandate. Among the priorities for this year, the creation of a newcomers support network as well as a network for Moroccan professionals in Toronto. Also AMDT has decided to change the end of its fiscal year to March 31st to align itself with most funders. Consequently, the mandate of the elected executive committee will be extended until March 31st 2010.
The new Executive Committee which includes a mix of new and former members, aims at continuing the organizational development process started last year in order to built a strong and viable organization. The long term objective is to turn AMDT into a financially independent organization with a vision and a mission that have the endorsement of the community which will enable it to offer programs and services and respond efficiently to the challenges facing our community and give it the standing it deserves within the Torontonian society. The AMDT would like to thank all former Executive Committee members and the volunteers who continue to support our work and participate in our activities. Their efforts and dedication play a major role in the thriving of our Moroccan community within the GTA and Ontario. |
